Rogaška Slatina Experience

Rogaška Slatina, one of the most recognized wellness and health destinations in Slovenia, is located in the eastern part of Slovenia. It became famous for the production of crystal glass and the Donat Mg mineral water and has a long history as a health resort.
What to do in Rogaska Slatina and the surrounding area?
Stroll around Rogaska Slatina spa park
The Spa Park is a well-maintained park. Here, culture with its historic spa buildings and sculptures goes hand in hand with nature and its centuries-old trees and flowerbeds. Along the path you can rest on benches and listen to the birds singing.

Experience the healing effects of Donat Mg mineral water
One of the most iconic attractions of Rogaska Slatina is the unique Donat Mg mineral water, which is known for its exceptionally high magnesium content. You can taste Donat Mg mineral water directly from the spring. Donat Mg has a beneficial effect on digestion, helps to reduce stress and contributes to general well-being.

Kristal tower
With its 106 metres, the Kristal tower is the tallest glass tower in Europe and the newest attraction in Rogaška Slatina. It symbolises the town’s rich glassmaking tradition combined with modern architecture and offers a breathtaking panoramic view.

Hike up the Janina tower
If you fancy an adventure, head to Janina Hill, which is just a stone’s throw from Rogaska Slatina central park. It is a popular attraction and offers a panoramic view of the surrounding area. A circular hiking trail leads to the tower, past the spa park, mineral springs and along forest paths.

Visit the Rogatec open-air museum
Founded in 1981, the Rogatec Open-Air museum is the largest (and most visited) open-air museum in Slovenia, presenting unique cultural, ethnological, regional and historical features of eastern Slovenia. It comprises 15 different relocated and reconstructed buildings (the homestead of the poet Joze Smit, an outbuilding with a dung pit and field toilet, blacksmith forge, a beehive, a pig stable, a hayrack, an interesting typical well, an old grocery shop and a domestic inn with a wine cellar) and forms a small ethnic village. During the hands-on workshop on making zulike, we took part in baking bread activity with Brigita.

Tantalize your taste buds with local cuisine at Jurg restaurant
A meal at Jurg restaurant is a culinary indulgence, where chef Grega offers seasonal local dishes with a modern twist. A glass of sparkling wine from crystal glasses adds a special touch to the culinary adventure. First, we treated our taste buds with fried croquettes with creamy smoked cheese and pickled fish, duck pâté with cranberry sauce and asparagus salad with fresh cheese, followed by porcini mushroom soup and beef soup with homemade noodles. For the main course, the kids grabbed Nodi’s plate, while I craved roast duck with mlinci and red cabbage and Robi had a large portion of roast lamb with roast potatoes and boiled vegetables. We finished our dinner with crème brûlée with lavender ice cream and tiramisu. Our waiter Sinisa, the owner of the family-run Kristal distillery near Rogaska Slatina, offered us a limoncello cocktail as the perfect finale. He has received many medals for his products.

Stay at Oranda Village Villas
Oranda Village with its 9 luxury apartments is located on the outskirts of Rogaska Slatina (only a 7-minute walk to the centre!). The surroundings are quiet, green and secluded. Just you, the birds singing and the sounds of nature. When we entered the apartment, we all agreed that we had never been in such a spacious accomodation before.

The stylish Oranda Village villas can accommodate 2-6 people. It consists of a spacious living room (with flat screen TV, large and comfortable sofa, relaxing armchairs, fireplace), combined with a dining room and a well-equipped kitchen (induction stove, oven, electric kettle, dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment, toaster, kitchen utensils).

There is access to the terrace with a view of the forest. Here you can enjoy your morning coffee or relax in an armchair in the afternoon. There is a bathroom with shower and toilet near the entrance. The other bathroom with shower and large bathtub is located between two bedrooms with king-size beds. To summarise, our 120 m² spacious apartment has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large living area with fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen with top appliances and a private terrace!!! What a treat!

The kids loved the green terrace because they could easily do forward rolls and handstands and play tag, and they fell in love with the spacious bathtube where they played for ages. Sipping a glass of wine from Rogaska crystal glasses was definitly one of the most unique things of our staying at Oranda village.

Rogaska Slatina is a perfect getaway for anyone seeking an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
