We visited a family run winery in the Vipava Valley. We thoroughly enjoyed an afternoon of many delicious appetizers, and a tasting of 8 wines. Most importantly, we enjoyed learning about wine making, the history of the region, the differences between wines and the reason the Slovenian wines are so special. Our hosts, a husband and wife duo who inherited the business from the wife’s family, were smart, kind, gracious, and funny. And the setting— a very modern, chic, comfortable tasting space with floor to ceiling glass windows looking out at the grapevines and hills … was stunning! I would love to return in the fall during their harvest to see this family in action. It looked like a great event space as well.
